Very first attempt at star trails!

And a second attempt! Turned out much better than the one below! Now that I know how to do this, I am going to have a lot of fun with this kind of photography!
Well I have seen many pictures like this and finally decided to try it out. It, of course, did not work out on the first try but after this clouds had moved in and there were no stars to be seen. Next time I take this I now know a few things I should do different. Let see the first most obvious one, use a tripod! I had it sitting on a table since I didn't want to pull out the tripod. Next time I will try to find a building or landscape instead of just a tree if I can get away from just my backyard. I also will probably leave the moon out although it made a neat effect. The settings I used were, ISO: 100, aperature: 7.1, Shutter speed: bulb, release mode: remote and the exposure was 5 minutes. I tried another one for 15 minutes but it did not turn out at all. When I get a chance to try this again, and hopefully succeed, I be sure to replace this first-time shot with a decent picture!

A few more pictures of the snow, winter, ice and cold. I seem to be taking a lot more winter pictures this year compared to last year. It's not my favorite season to go out and take pictures but I've been finding many interesting things lately! We'll see if I can keep them going now..

Snow!

What a weekend of snow! What was it.. 23" or so? Even though the weather wasn't very, let's say favorable, for taking pictures outside, I still got some decent pictures! Not my best, but they are alright. The middle three pictures are at my grandma's house. We went there Saturday night and Sunday afternoon and by the way we almost were killed on the way home Saturday! The two pictures on the top and bottom are at my house. Just the snow blowing around! It was a veryy snowy weekend!

colddd!

This picture doesn't fit into the 'cold' theme here but oh well.. I like it!

Hard Select

For this assignment we had to either make ourselves miniature or giant. At first I wanted to make myself miniature and sitting on the moon but I couldn't get close enough for a good picture of the moon. Then I decided to make myself a miniature skater in the snow because I've been trying to get a picture similar to this just "normal" size but I never felt motivated enough to go do that. Sooo, here's what I got out of those two pictures. It turned out a bit better than I thought it would.

Don't fall!

This is Betsy, one of the senior girls I skate with. I took this a few weeks ago when I wasn't able to skate, due to an injury. It just happens that the very second I took this picture, she trips over her toe pick and almost falls. Of course this picture is edited to make the effect of a spotlight!
